Alvern’s education has taken him across the globe, having completed his accounting and finance qualifications in Middlesex, London, thereafter completing his CPA Australia certification. Primarily tax trained Alvern’s career too has taken him across the globe to Malaysia, China, London with the previous move being eight years spent in Singapore working in Senior Manager and Global Tax Leader roles for an international financial institutions. He later returned moved to Australia where he now joins the hastings + co team.

Alvern’s management of internal and external stakeholders whilst delivering key organisational agendas are not only some of his most coveted abilities, but also his most impressive. He has a clear code of ethics, never compromising on confidentiality, respect or integrity, and is deeply interested in helping others, acting as a valued guide and mentor wherever he can.

Whether he is formulating a tax risk management strategy, reconciling a trust account or delivering quality services to his clients, Alvern balances professionalism, passion with the right amount of fun in his approach to his work.

Beyond work, he is a talented multi-linguist who is proficient in English and Malay – both spoken and written – as well as fluent in spoken Cantonese and conversational-level Mandarin.
